Welcome to our milestone Bonanza
It is indeed an honour for me to welcome all our participants, members and friends to this 40th annual Richards Bay Ski Boat Club Fishing Bonanza.
Our RBSBC Committee, the Bonanza Committee and staff have gone the extra mile to make this prestigious community event one you will all warmly remember for many years to come.
With no fewer than two ski boats among the many wonderful prizes to be won, and much entertainment for the whole family, we know that this landmark Bonanza will be truly exceptional.
I personally want to thank all our loyal sponsors, the public and anglers who have supported us over the past four decades.
You have journeyed with us through these years, making every Bonanza special for its own reasons.
The City of uMhlathuze and the King Cetshwayo District have benefitted by way of your hard earned money invested through spending literally millions of rands in accommodation, restaurants, tourism activities, buying holiday property, maintenance of boats and purchase of fishing tackle, fuel, etc. – all within this region.
Your financial spend has created many jobs and assisted many people, from all sectors of the local population, to make a living.
The Operation Phakisa drive emphasises the development of tourism through the economic viability that our oceans unleash.
This is exactly what the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club contributes to by developing the sport of angling in deep sea waters, off-shore and in protected bay areas.
It has been the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club members’ mandate, for the past forty years already, to bring this event especially, to the community of Richards Bay in support of all in our community.
The members of the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club have confidence that the municipality of uMhlathuze recognises the importance of this club’s contribution to the broader public and to the financial well-being of this region.
It is our aim to continue this legacy for the benefit of our community at large.
I wish each and every angler in this Bonanza tight lines, fair winds and safe boating. May you all be winners.

Message from SADSAA President
The South African Deep Sea Angling Association wishes to compliment and congratulate the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club on their fine achievement of 40 year’s involvement in the development and promotion of the deep sea angling sport.
Not only have they done so in promoting Richards Bay as an international tourist destination but also as a world class angling venue.
During the 2006 World Big Game Angling Championships, hosted by the Club, tourist expenditure in the area – based on the results of the SATOUR tourist questionnaire – amounted to R16.3-million during the Championships.
And all this owing to the voluntary effort of a group of dedicated people, working for the love and promotion of the sport and their area, without compensation.
We sincerely trust that common sense will prevail in your deliberations with the relative local authorities and your efforts in promoting Richards Bay as an international angling destination will continue to bear fruit.
