Three men arrested for attempted murder

THREE suspects were arrested for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm at a homestead in Emahhashini, KwaNongoma this week.

The SAPS Ulundi Tactical Response Team conducted an operation following up on the attempted murder of a 32-year-old man.

The victim was at his home when he was accosted by armed men who shot and wounded him at Emahhashini on Friday afternoon.

He sustained several gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital in a critical condition.

The motive of the attack is unknown at this stage.

A day later the first suspect was arrested and charged for attempted murder.

Through further investigation, a male and a female were also arrested on Monday and a .38 revolver was found in their possession.

They were charged with attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

All three were to appear in Nongoma Magistrates Court on 24 December.

The seized firearm will be taken to ballistics to ascertain if it was used in the commission of the attempted murder or any other crime in the country.

KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised Ulundi TRT for the arrest and the seizure of the firearm.

‘We are confident that the seizure of this firearm will save many lives and ensure people do not become victims of crime this festive season,’ she said.
