IN response to increased crime in St Lucia and neighbouring areas, Mtubatuba police on Saturday conducted an operation in which four arrests were made.

A roadblock was held between 2pm and 11pm and was attended by 19 police members and seven vehicles.

One person was arrested for possession of whoonga, one arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, one for possession of an unlicensed firearm and another for possession of dagga.

The operation’s focus area was St Lucia, Khula Village, Dukuduku, eZwenelisha and Monzi.

All four suspects were arrested and taken into custody at the Mtubatuba SAPS holding cells.

They are expected to appear at Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court this week.

‘We commend all officers involved in this successful operation and warn people not operating within the law that they will not continue to get away with it,’ said Mtubatuba SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Justice Hlabisa.
