Downpour hits Richards Bay CBD

Standing water along Mark Strassse in Richards Bay CBD caused flooding on the road

HEAVY rainfall affected certain parts of Richards Bay and resulted in standing water on the John Ross Parkway and flooding on some roads especially on Mark Strasse on Sunday morning.

Minimal damage to properties was reported and the Richards Bay Clean Air Association (RBCA) monitoring station recorded 132mm of rainfall between 8am and noon on Sunday morning.

City of uMhlathuze spokesperson Mdu Ncalane confirmed that there were no problems with the drainage on the Mark Strasse but the downpour was to heavy and it later drained.

‘We received a few complaints from residents in eSikhaleni who notified us that water had entered their properties, but there were no serious cases reported,’ he said.
