ESHOWE-BORN boxer Nkululeko 'Bulldog' Mhlongo is in eShowe preparing for his World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Super Welterweight Title defence against Emanny 'The General' Kalombo of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The fight takes place on Friday, 23 March.
Mhlongo is pursuing his boxing career without the help of a trainer and is working flat out at the eShowe Xtreme Fight Club.
Unlike many boxers, who require the services of mentors to nurture their skills, Bulldog does it on his own.
'I have been training all by myself since turning professional in 2007, and this has worked for me.
'Being your own trainer requires a great deal of self-discipline and motivation.
'I don’t see myself getting any mentor in future,' said Mhlongo.
Anyone who can assist with Mhlongo's preparations can contact Larry Bentley on 073 6485200.
Bulldog won the SA Super Welterweight Title in August 2011 when he beat Page Tshesane and has defended his title four times since then.
He has also held the World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Super Welterweight Title since August 2014.
He beat Sikhululo Sidzumo in the Independent Stadium in Bisho and has since defended his title twice, both times against France Ramabolu.
