Matthew Burgess will be in action in his 2L Hotrod at the ZCBF Showgrounds on Saturday

GOOD news for local petrol heads and racing enthusiasts is that the 2018 Oval Track racing season officially gets underway on Saturday at the ZCBF Showgrounds in Richards Bay.

Action begins at 6pm, with an admission fee of R80 for adults and R40 for children.

Participants will be racing in the following classes – Ninja Midgets, Stock Rods, 1660 Saloons, 2L Hotrods, Hotrods and Super Saloons.

The Stock Rod class will offer close competitive racing with the likes of Aubrey Pearce, Gail Campbell, Garth Holgate and Chiara Frara taking on Collin Rheeders and Louis de Lira.

Warm-ups will start earlier for those who would like to meet the drivers, inspect the racing cars up close and observe the preparations.
