LONDON LETTER: The power of snowflakes

JUST when elitist outrage couldn’t get any weirder, a new target pops up.

Is it the tragedy of starving millions in the developing world? The fact that the Middle East is a tinder box where the biggest export is not oil but angry young men?

That a crazy has his thumb on an A-bomb button? (Kim Jong-un, that is … for those who may be wondering).

Nah. That’s far too logical.

The latest hot topic that is driving social justice warriors (SJWs) apoplectic is … wait for it, James Bond.

I kid you not. In today’s politically correct world, 007 is not a dashing babe-magnet who single-handedly saves the planet from dastardly villains. He’s a sexist, misogynist dinosaur and should not be allowed on our screens.

So, just imagine the outcry if he was a real person — unless, of course, he voted for the ‘progressive’ parties.

Among the heinous politically incorrect crimes he has committed are the names he gives his squeezes. Look no further than Ms P Galore (modesty restrains me from using her first name), whom he seduced while tracking down Goldfinger; Ms Plenty O’Toole, a casino worker in Diamonds Are Forever; Kissy Suzuki who bore his child out of wedlock; Holly Goodhead, a CIA agent in Moonraker; Honey Ryder who helped him destroy the diabolical Dr No; and Case Chew Mee, whose entire wardrobe consisted of a bikini.

Not to mention the titles of such celluloid misogamy; Octopussy, The Man with the Golden Gun and Thunderball, among others.

This has sparked a storm on social media, where SJWs have worn calluses on their thumbs tweeting spleen.

The common thread is James Bond is a rapist and the actors who portray him are guilty by association.

Rapist dude

Take this tweet: ‘Watching old James Bond movies and realised: Dude was low key a rapist.’

Another tweeter takes issue with the phrase ‘low key’: ‘In the early films, James Bond was a full on rapist! #goldfinger.’

Or: ‘Watching old school Sean Connery James Bond movies. He’s basically a rapist who occasionally murders a Russian person.’

So it has come to this. The first James Bond flick was screened 55 years ago and the franchise is as popular as ever.

Twenty-six Bond movies have since been made, bringing light-hearted escapism and amusement to millions.

Two actors who played the womanizing, martini-swigging, hard-living spy have been knighted: Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore. Twelve actors have taken the role of the quintessential Englishman, from Connery (who ironically is a Scottish nationalist) to Daniel Craig, who got seasick on Thames River ripples while filming Spectre.

Yet now, instead of being a fantasy alpha male, he’s a serial psychopathic womaniser who kills the odd Russian person (he actually doesn’t) and should be erased from cinematic history.

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. The establishment snowflakes (those in the West who run the schools, universities, broadcast media and much of the civil service) and SJWs are the modern version of the fanatical puritans who burnt witches at the stake in the Dark Ages. This righteous indignation and virtue signaling has nothing to do with James Bond, who is so over the top that no sane person would take seriously.

Instead it’s about controlling the narrative. James Bond to the snowflakes represents what they call ‘toxic masculinity’.

Some of us may laugh at this, but we do so at our peril. SJWs are deadly serious about eradicating ‘incorrect’ thought, and as they cannot do it through common sense or debate, they do it by name calling – possibly the most effect weapon in the West.

If you support the Tories in England or the Republicans in America, you are a bigot. If you oppose unchecked immigration changing the face of your country, you are a racist xenophobe. If you act in a James Bond movie, you are a de facto rapist.

The SJWs and establishment snowflakes are not elected. Yet somehow they wield influence infinitely out of proportion to their support or numbers. They survive governments. They will survive Trump, and they will survive Brexit.

Whether the West will survive them is another question.
