RH Construction King Cetshwayo captain Eugene Zwart ended his local cricketing career with a 62 run victory over Pinetown in a Castle Premier League game played on Sunday at Addison Park.

The cricket stalwart, who is off to Cape Town to pursue new business opportunities, could not have asked for a better send-off.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first.

King Cetshwayo collected 219 runs for 6 wickets in their 50 overs, thanks to useful contributions from Jason Redinger (85 not out), all-rounder Ruan Janse van Rensburg (31) and left-hand opener Stephan Joubert (23).

Redinger was in a class of his own, coming in at number three with the scoreboard reading 31/1 and batting right through the innings.

He took his time to settle in, working the nut around before exploding at the back end of the innings.

For the first time this season, the home side managed to string together a handful of useful partnerships.

The fourth wicket stand was worth 38 runs, the fifth wicket 63 and sixth wicket 15 runs.

Pinetown were dismissed well short of the target on 157 in the 45th over, thanks to mesmerising spinning from left orthodox spinner Joubert, who finished with bowling figures of 4/16 in 8.

He was supported at the other end by right-hand spinner Chad Neuhoff, who claimed three scalps for 29 runs in six overs.

Speedster Neill Jordan (1/26 in 7.1), Janse van Rensburg (1/31 in 10) and Charl Groenewald (1/28 in 6) also came to the party.

King Cetshwayo will be away this weekend, taking on Chatworth Sporting at Chatsworth Oval on Sunday, before hosting Crusaders at Addison Park on Sunday, 17 December.
