Sizzling sevens action in Empangeni

The dominant Richards Bay High School side that claimed the U15 crown

RICHARDS Bay High School’s sevens rugby team’s slick performance resulted in the team claiming the U15 title at the Empangeni High School Sevens rugby tournament on Friday afternoon.

The local government school beat Curro Hillcrest 31-10 in the semi-finals and edged Pionier 10-5 in the final.

Competed schools were Pionier, Richards Bay High School, Empangeni High School, John Ross College, Felixton College, Ashton College, Curro Hillcrest and Transky Journey.

The victorious Pionier first team that claimed the U18 title

Vryheid’s Pionier Hoër first team took the U18 crown, beating their second side 42-5 in the finals.

Pionier 1 beat Newcastle High 26-0 in a one-way semi-final clash, with the second team beating Richards Bay High School 10-5 in the other semi-final.

Schools competing in the U18 competition were Pionier, Richards Bay High School, Empangeni High School, John Ross College, Felixton College, Newcastle High School, Ashton College, Curro Hillcrest, Richards Bay Christian School and Richem Secondary.
