Big turnout for Ngoje trail run

Vicky Erasmus still looking fresh in the 22km run

MORE than 550 runners tackled the 2017 Ngoje trail run at Brocklee Dam on Saturday morning.

The event, organised by the Holy Childhood School in eShowe, provided something for everyone with 5km, 10km, 22km and 36km races .

With the temperature rising, the faster runners were happy to finish early, while the slower runners had to deal with the midday heat.

The 5km race had the largest entry with 252 participants enjoying a real race experience. It was aimed at children, most of whom were accompanied by their parents.

For those looking for more of a challenge, the 10km race gave the 115 finishers a feel of what the area has to offer, and hopefully encouraged them to attempt the 22km next year.

The 148 runners in the 22km race were treated to a great run, without the feature of the ‘crack’ which was reserved for the 37 runners who tackled the 36km.

All participants agreed that the variety of distances and the organisation made for a great day in the country.
