Sanco backs Ramaphosa and Mchunu

THE KZN branch of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) has put its weight behind Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to replace Jacob Zuma as ANC President.

Pledging its full allegiance to the ANC alliance ahead of the 54th ANC national conference, Sanco Provincial Secretary Richard Mkhungo said in a media release the organisation was ‘very concerned’ about ‘safeguarding the life of the ANC and the attainment of a national democratic society’.

‘Whoever becomes the president of the country will determine the life and survival of our communities.

‘We therefore can’t afford a situation whereby the ANC is shaken in the upcoming (2019) elections and we can’t witness a time in our history where again our society is leaderless.’
