Life sentence for eShowe murderers

THE eShowe Regional Court convicted Khishwa Nzuza (38) , Nkanyiso Maxwell Magwaza (28), Samkelo Nkoqoba Mhlongo (28) and Lucky Joe Nzuza (33) to life imprisonment for killing five members of the Mnyango family near eShowe in July 2013 .

The court heard how the accused attacked the Mnyango homestead with a petrol bomb, before setting upon the family with spears and other dangerous weapons. The homestead was raised to the ground.

The 60-year-old mother, two girls aged 22 and 17 and two boys aged 11 and 2, died in the attack.

The attackers then killed some of the family’s cattle.

The accused were arrested in July 2013.

They were also found guilty of attempted murder, for which they were each sentenced to five years imprisonment.

They received an additional five years imprisonment on four charges of arson and another five years for malicious damage to property.
