RICHARDS Bay High School learner Jenny de Jonge founded the Richards Bay High School Cheerleader Club last year with the aim of giving ‘outcasts’ a place to belong.

‘Our schools motto is ‘I belong’ and there were a large number of learners not participating in sport, academic and cultural activities in our school,’ said Jenny.

‘They needed to do an extramural activity but never fitted the mold of what was on offer.

‘So I started the cheerleader club to give them a place to belong and be used by the school when needed.’

The club will cheer at all sporting and cultural events.

They will make their official debut at the finals of the Zululand Nite League which will be concluded tonight (Monday) at Richards Bay High School.

The club meets twice a week and practices for two hours.

They need financial support and sponsorship for uniforms and pompoms.

Anyone interested in aiding the club can contact Jenny on 083 2420123 or Mrs R Enslin on 083 4686281.
