Call for police reservists

THE South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a recruitment process for reservists who want to assist police fight crime by serving on a voluntary basis.

SAPS Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khomotso Phahlane, has approved the initiative.

Dedicated community members who are energetic, intelligent, physically and mentally fit can apply.

A reservist performs voluntary duty without compensation and positions as reservists do not guarantee appointment as permanent members of the SAPS.

Strict recruitment compliance procedures will be closely monitored by the Personnel Management Division to ensure that the recruited reservist candidates start with the required training.

Candidate reservists may not commence duty before they have successfully completed the training determined by the national Commissioner.

Information is available on the SAPS website under the heading careers, or those interested can visit the Richards Bay Police Station or contact Captain Debbie Ferreira on 035 9012494 for more information.
