BREAKING NEWS: Getaway gamble fails dramatically

A HIGH-SPEED chase ensued on the John Ross Parkway earlier today where cops fired several shots at occupants of a black Polo wanted by police following two reported break-ins in Empangeni.

A member of the Richards Bay SAPS first spotted the vehicle this morning disguised as a Golf GTI and called for backup.

The five armed robbers raced to the Bay Hall area where they left the vehicle and absconded on foot to Pelican Island, but were shortly discovered hiding in the bush.

Surrounded by members of the Empangeni K9 Unit and various other units on scene, the men were arrested and the Richards Bay SAPS are busy examining finger prints to establish links to other reported crimes.
