Robbers target pedestrians daily in Richards Bay

NEARLY every single day in the past week, at least one pedestrian has been held at knife or gunpoint in Richards Bay.

Between Wednesday and Sunday, four robbery cases were opened at the Richards Bay SAPS.

At 11am on Wednesday, a 28-year-old shopper was confronted by three men with firearms at the robots between the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and Nando’s entrances.

They pushed her and demanded cash before grabbing her shopping items and speeding off in a gold Jeep.

At 6.15pm on Thursday, three suspects threatened a 51-year-old man at the Taxi City bus rank with knives.

They robbed him of his cash and two cellphones.

Two hours later the same day, another man was held at knife point by two suspects outside the Bayridge complex in Meerensee, also demanding his cash and cellphone.

And on Sunday as 28-year-old man was ambushed by three armed suspects while walking along a greenbelt in Arboretum, stealing his cash.

Police are investigating all four cases of robberies.

No suspects have been arrested.
