Neil McMaster back on the cycling saddle

Zululand Cycling Club cyclists Neil McMaster, Mark Fowler and Daniel Titus celebrate after the race

DESPITE getting ploughed into by a drunk driver on a recent training ride that left Neil McMaster in a back brace for six weeks, the local cyclist bounced back from the injury and completed the 105km section of the 2017 aQuelle Tour Durban last weekend.

McMaster, who had limited movement after the incident, finshed the race in 3.15.47.

Fellow club cyclist Daniel Titus, who was also injured in the accident, completed his ride in 2.57.31.

A handful of Zululand Cycling Club cyclists competed in the 45km and 105km sections of the popular race.

105km: Jan-Harm van der Merwe 2.40.35, Dirk Barnard 2.45.12, Daniel Titus 2.57.31, Zack Patinios 2.57.45, Mark Fowler 3.14.28, Neil McMaster 3.15.47, Hendré Bester 3.15.47, Andrew Marx 3.29.21, Ron Blom 3.36.00, Fannie van Rooyen 3.44.53, Liezl van der Merwe 3.44.53, Kenneth Hodgson 3.45.05, Ezile Smith 4.11.38 and Marelize Smith 4.11.38.
