Suspect arrested in principal’s murder case

A 23-year-old suspect will appear in the eShowe Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday) in connection with the murder of a school principal on 2 January.

He was arrested on Monday by eShowe detectives.

Khomo Primary School Principal Busisiwe Nzuza (44) offered a lift to a hitch-hiker from Empangeni to eShowe.

While on the way, near Nkwalini, the hitch-hiker allegedly produced a firearm and demanded the vehicle from her.

He then shot her in the head and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Bheki Langa praised the members for arresting the suspect and warned motorists not to offer lifts to any strangers.

He said police have a number of cases involving vehicle owners being hijacked or robbed by people who asked for lifts.
