UPDATE: Child rape shocker – four teens arrested

FOUR teenage boys were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the shocking allegations of 10 young boys being beaten, molested and forced to sodomise each other last Sunday.

Nkosingiphile Maseko (18), Sifiso Ngobese (19) and two other teens aged 15 and 17 years were apprehended by the police at KwaDube Village outside eSikhaleni.

They appeared in the eSikhawini District Magistrate’s Court on Friday, facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and compelled rape.

The accused allegedly forced a group of young boys to have sexual intercourse with each other and brutally whipped them at Injunga Dam in the uMkhobose area.

According to the victims, they were also forced to sing and dance by the older boys.

‘We cried as they dragged us into a nearby forest and instructed us to have oral sexual activities,’ a nine-year-old victim told the Zululand Observer.

The case has been handed over to the Empangeni Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS).

According to Lt Colonel Makhosi Ncube of the FSC unit, counselling have been arranged for the victims at the Thuthuzela Care facility and other units.

Medical examination

On Thursday, victims were examined by a medical doctor, leading to another shocking discovery.

According to the police, medical tests revealed that another nine-year-old boy had been repeatedly raped which caused internal injuries.

A separate case of rape was opened with the FSC unit.

The boy apparently told his family the suspects had sexually assaulted him several times on his way home from school.

His uncle said the trauma has caused mental disturbance to his nephew.

‘The doctor tested him for diseases and he was cleared, but he still has to undergo follow-up tests,’ the uncle said.
